Kim Hyun Joong Sells 100,000 Copies Each of 3 Japan Singles, 'New Record'

Singer Kim Hyun Joong, who has released 3 Japan singles, have each sold 100,000 copies in the first week of its release.

According to Oricon, Kim Hyun Joong has held a record as a Korean artist to have all his albums released in Japan reach 100,000 copies sold in the first week of its release.

Last year, his Japan debut single, KISS KISS/Lucky Guy, reached a record for selling the most copies on the day of its release. His single released in July of last year, HEAT, sold 183,000 copies in the first week and his most recent single, TONIGHT, sold 116,000 copies. This statistics show just how popular he is in Japan.

Kim Hyun Joong's agency in Japan, Universal Music, stated, "Having Korean singer Kim Hyun Joong with us is such an honor. With every single he releases, he proves to us once again how much his name is worth."

They continued, "With his 3 singles last year and his first official album, he has increased album sales significantly. It is safe to say that Kim Hyun Joong plays a big role in the Japan album sales industry. He is always a singer to look forward to."

On the other hand, on June 8, he held a fan meeting, '2013 KHJ SHOW-Party People' in Seoul. He also appeared as a guest on the SBS show, "Barefoot Friends."

K-pop Idols Acting In Chinese/Taiwanese Dramas: Success Or Failure?

Last time, we looked at how well K-pop idols were able to speak the Chinese language. Now, let's take a look at all the K-pop idols who were bold enough to show off their acting skills by playing a role in a Chinese or Taiwanese drama!

In 2011, Super Junior-M members Donghae and Siwon were cast in a Taiwanese drama called "Skip Beat!" It was a drama based on the Japanese manga, and both Donghae and Siwon played the roles of idols in the entertainment industry.

Perhaps because both Donghae and Siwon played roles similar to their real life, the two's acting skills were praised by fans. Donghae was able to showcase his cuteness in the drama when he adorably slurped strawberry puddings, and he was also able to become fierce during scenes when he had to portray anger.

Siwon, on the other hand, portrayed a more gentle character, and he also kept cool by acting as a handsome and talented actor in the drama.

Although both Donghae and Siwon did a great job with the drama, their voices unfortunately had to be dubbed into Chinese. Many fans of the two idols complained on the official Facebook page of the drama, expressing their dissatisfaction with the dubbed voices, since many didn't think the voices matched the two actors.

Other than Donghae and Siwon, Park Jung Min of SS501 also took a shot at acting in a Taiwanese drama called "Fondant Garden." In preparation for the drama, Park Jung Min studied Chinese under a Taiwanese teacher, and while acting in the drama, he tried to use as much Chinese in his lines as he could.

"Fondant Garden" was Park Jung Min's first time acting in a Chinese drama, and his cute role in the drama made him loved by many. In the romantic comedy, Park Jung Min plays a Taiwanese-Korean second-generation son of a CEO, who later loses his memory and meets a talented pastry chef, called Mi En.

Park Jung Min's acting was very natural in the drama, and fortunately, the dubbed Chinese voice matched him very well. Since Park Jung Min plays a Taiwanese-Korean in the drama, there were some scenes in the drama when he would be able to speak Korean. Park Jung Min was also very cheerful and bright on the drama set, inciting laughter among the filming staff.

Other than Taiwnese dramas, Super Junior's Kim Kibum has also begun acting in new Chinese dramas. Following "The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils," Kibum has been cast as the lead actor in "Lucky Tempo." Unlike his fellow K-pop idols, Kibum has chosen to act in historical dramas in China rather than modern dramas.

In an interview with a Taiwanese TV show, Kibum revealed the difficulties of learning Chinese, but he also showed off common Chinese phrases that he often used on set, including "When do we get off work?" and "I'm hungry and tired." Kibum's new Chinese drama is scheduled to air later this year, and fans are waiting to see his acting ability shine!

f(x)'s Victoria and Super Junior-M's Zhou Mi also went back to their native country to act in a Chinese drama called "When Love Walked In." Since both of them are Chinese, they had no problem conversing and acting in the Chinese drama.

"When Love Walked In" was the first drama that the two ever acted in, and both of them played lead roles in the drama. Despite it being the first time that they acted, Victoria and Zhoumi were able to show the audience their acting skills, and many praised them as naturals.

'Beautiful Vs. Evil' MBLAQ Thunder and Mir's Thoughts About Their Sisters

MBLAQ's Thunder and Mir shared polar opposite answers about their celebrity sisters.

Appearing on 'Beatles Code 2' on June 10, Thunder and Mir were both asked about their perceptions of their sisters, 2NE1's Dara and Go Eun Ah, respectively.

Thunder responded, "My sister is 6 years older than me. We live together now so I see her at home all the time. It does not occur to me that she is pretty when we are both home but I realize how beautiful she is when she is on stage." Super Junior's Shin Dong, one of the co-hosts of the show, quipped, "Is it because everyone else on stage was so ugly?" [Spoiler] “Gu Family Book” Lee Seung-gi and Suzy kiss every time they make eye contact

On the MBC drama “Gu Family Book” on the 11th, Choi Kang-chi (Lee Seung-gi) trained with master Dam Pyeong-joon (Jo Seong-ha).

Dam decided to bring out the potential in Choi Kang-chi as he was in a fate of killing his own father, Goo Wol-ryeong (Choi Jin-hyeok).

FT Island Runs a Giant Ad Truck in Tokyo for “Rated-FT”

FT Island will be running a giant truck for its new album throughout Tokyo.

A photo showing the FT Island members posing before a giant truck with their photo on it, nicknamed the ′FT Car′, was recently released.

The truck aims to advertise the release of the band′s third studio album in Japan,Rated-FT.

The FT Car, which also holds autographs from the members themselves, will run through Harajuku, Omotesando, Sibuya, Shinjuku, Ōkubo and other downtown Tokyo areas from June 10-16.

Rated-FT was released on June 12. The 11-track album holds many self-written singles by the members, including Choi Jong Hoon′s Hold My Hand, Lee Hong Gi′sBlack Chocolate and Orange Sky and Lee Jae Jin′s Time To, as well as the promotional single Freedom.

Korean TV Station MBC Leads Ratings War, What Could They Be Doing Right?

MBC must be doing something right. MBC's dramas and even its variety shows led this week's ratings in their respective time slots.

It's no surprise that MBC's "Gu Family Book" remains first in its slot, as it retained that position since its early episodes, but the drama actually picked up some viewers in the last weeks.

The drama, starring Lee Seung Gi and Suzy, reached its highest ratings ever. It flirted with 19 percent, up from 17.4 percent the previous week.

One reason for the rising ratings may be that the story of "Gu Family Book" has taken some important turns. In recent episodes, Choi Kang Chi, played by Lee Seung Gi, met both his demon father and his mysterious mother. His romantic feelings for Dam Ye Wool, played by miss A's Suzy, have escalated and viewers were treated to a memorable kdrama kiss.

But the reason for the show's overall success should not surprise anyone. There's no substitute for good writing, interesting plot twists and excellent casting, all of which the show has. Suzy adds some idol allure and the chemistry she shares with Lee Seung Gi is appealing.

At 19.4 percent, "Gu Family Book" easily surpassed "Jang Ok Jung," the saeguk retelling of Jang Ok Jung's life, which only earned 11.3 percent. The new KBS melodrama "Shark," which despite its stars Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil, only reached 7.3 percent. The tvN show "Dating Agency: Cyrano" rose from 0.291 to 0.335 percent. It's not much of a competition.

MBC not only scored well with its dramas this week but the variety program "Dad! Where Are We Going?" ranked as the highest program on Sunday night, trumping the KBS show "1 Night 2 Days" and the SBS show "Running Man."

"Dad" scored 16 percent of the ratings while MBC's "Real Man" earned 14.5 percent.

 "Real Man" also used the idol card to draw in viewers, featuring new regular ZE:A's Hyung Sik, along with actor Jang Hyuk.

In contrast, the SBS variety show "Running Man" only earned 12.8 percent of the ratings and "Barefooted Friends" 5.6 percent in its time slot.

The MBC 50-episode series "One Hundred Years' Inheritance" also did well. It scored 25.8 and 26.2 percent, beating the SBS drama "The Secret of Birth" at 8.1 and 7.2 percent.

Netizens called "One Hundred Year's Inheritance," which stars Eugene, one of the best dramas they had seen, because it has everything: romance, sadness and joy.

The only KBS drama that seems to be earning high viewer ratings is "You're The Best Lee Soon Shin," which scored 24.4 percent and flirted with 30 percent the next night.

Jung Woo Sung, Han Hyo Joo, and 2PM's Junho to Guest on "Running Man"

Great news! Actors Jung Woo Sung and Han Hyo Joo, and 2PM‘s Junho will be guests on the popular variety program “Running Man.”

Photos of the three stars running around with “Running Man” members are circulating online and a source from SBS revealed that Jung Woo Sung, Han Hyo Joo, and Junho filmed for the variety show on June 10 and 11.

Junho also uploaded a picture on his  Twitter account with the caption, “Running, running, running~~,” announcing that he was in middle of filming for the show. In the photo, Junho is wearing the same shirt that Kim Jong Kook is seen wearing in other “Running Man” photos. He also sports a large, black cap with the initials “JH.”

Jung Woo Sung, Han Hyo Joo, and Junho acted together for the movie “Surveillance,” which is set to premiere on July 4.

The broadcast date for this episode of “Running Man” has not been decided yet.

Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and SHINee's Key are doppelgangers?! Well, Taeyeon seems to wondering that question! 

Taeyeon shared on her Instagram, "W/ KEY. Do we look alike. Do we look alike?!" The SM Entertainment sunbae shared a photo of her with her arm around her labelmate, Key, giving fans a good comparison shot.

Fans gave their opinions, commenting, "Rather than them looking alike, their expressions look alike," "They both look so cute," and "Their eyes look similar." 

Girls' Generation are currently on their '2013 Girls' Generation World Tour – Girls & Peace'.

Is Lee Hyori scared of younger idols?

Lee Hyori is known for her charisma as a veteran singer, but she surprised fans by revealing that she becomes weak-at-the-knees in front of younger idols. 

On the June 10th broadcast of KBS 2TV's 'Hello', Lee Hyori was asked about what it was like to compete with idols after making a comeback after three years. Lee Hyori shared, "Because there are a lot of idols and I have to compete with a lot of young artists, I do feel a lot of pressure."

The MCs continued to ask if she got nervous despite her usual confidence. Lee Hyori wittily replied, "Not in front of the kids," bringing laughter with her honesty.
