Shinhwa Has The Best Fans On Earth? Changjo Show Their Love In Some Very Unique Ways

Shinhwa Has The Best Fans On Earth? Changjo Show Their Love In Some Very Unique Ways Shinhwa Changjo – 2012 Shinhwa concert 'The Return'
Shinhwa fans.We all know at least one. But, compared to the fans of other idol groups, there is something very special about them.
It’s hard to put your finger on it exactly. Is it that they are shy about admitting their bias at first?Or that they have been dedicated fans for over a decade?Maybe it’s the unique ways they show their love?
Admittedly, I had never really thought much about Shinhwa until this year with their 15th anniversary.I admire that the group has had continued success after so many years.I like that when you look at how Shinhwa has changed over the years, it fits with the times. They may have been around longer than any other K-Pop group, but they are still just as relevant as when they first debuted.
But maybe what I like the most about Shinhwa are those special fans of theirs.
Go to a Shinhwa concert (if you’re lucky enough to get tickets, that is) and you will see a very diverse crowd.Old and new fans of all ages, shapes, and sizes – and all with one very important thing in common: the idea that Shinhwa has always been, and will always be, the best.
I didn’t think I knew any Shinhwa fans until I was working on a piece about the 15th anniversary concert in Seoul this past spring.
I was taking a break and skimming through Facebook when I saw a post from a close friend of mine – she was smiling ear-to-ear and holding a bright orange Shinhwa sign.I instantly messaged her.
This is the point in our more than three-year-long friendship when she revealed that she is, in fact, a die-hard Shinhwa Changjo and has been since she was very young.
“When I was in middle school, I saw Shinhwa for the first time.I was so impressed by the fans that I wanted to join them,” she explained.”And the Shinhwa members have so much charisma!Even now, they still continue to make an effort.”
The same thing happened with my roommate.Knowing full well what my job is, she didn’t tell me about her almost life-long obsession with Shinhwa until two weeks before she moved out.
The next day, she even told me that when she confessed to some other Shinhwa Changjo that she had revealed her bias to me, they scolded her saying that I “wouldn’t understand.”
And this got me thinking, why are Shinhwa fans so shy about their love?
“Shinhwa and the fans believe we have a special relationship,” explained my friend.”It’s a matter of respect.”
I get that. This is probably why you don’t see girls walking around decked out in orange with ‘Shinhwa’ tattooed on their faces.
But it doesn’t mean they don’t have their own ways of infiltrating the minds of non-fans with their bias.
Recently, those clever Korean netizens have been hard at work sifting through K-drama episodes to find evidence that the writers are closeted Shinhwa Changjo.
Two specific television shows come to mind, 2009′s Boys Over Flowers and the currently airing I Hear Your Voice.
The Boys Over Flowers writer was a bit obvious with her fan status. The character’s attended Shinhwa High School, Goo Junpyo’s family’s company was named Shinhwa Group and had an orange company logo.
While those examples are blatant, there are countless other hidden clues that only Changjo would recognize – including certain phrases, names, and locations.
The writer for I Hear Your Voice may have tried to hide her fan status at first, but things are now getting a little excessive. She appears to have a really strong affection not just for Shinhwa, but for member Shin Hye Sung especially.
Like the Boys Over Flowers writer, naming characters or places carefully is one way to interject with fan bias. The female lead is Hye Sung and her mother’s restaurant is called Hye Sung Chicken. The twins’ names resemble the singer’s given name as well.
Some clues, like names, are very obvious, while others only Shinhwa fans would understand.
The careful use of numbers – Min Jun Guk’s criminal ID number is the same as Shin Hye Sung’s birthday – or the main character’s affinity for a certain food – she pours sesame oil all over each meal – are more examples.
Even written clues abound in I Hear Your Voice – newspaper headlines including ‘Shinhwa,’ or on-screen text messages that include members’ nicknames.
The scripts themselves are even orange!
Whether they hide their participation in the fandom or sneak it in to their work somehow, Shinhwa fans really do have a unique way of showing the love – making them some of the most impressive fans on earth.
Don’t believe me?Here is how my former roommate described her passion for Korea’s longest-running boy band:”I feel like they are my family and life.I can’t explain my life except them.”

(ed’s note: Is there another fandom like this one? FTISLAND’s Primadonna perhaps?)

“We just thought that September would be a good time to do it, and we didn’t even talk about our wedding plans with our parents”, she wrote on her fan site. “We haven’t prepared anything yet”.
The K-pop singer posted the message one day after an online media outlet reported that the couple was preparing their wedding invitations.
“It’s not the way I wanted to make my wedding announcement, but it has been abruptly revealed, so now I want to focus on preparing for my big day”, she added.
The two have been dating since they collaborated on Lee Hyo-lee‘s single album in July 2011, the proceeds of which went to support abandoned animals.

The 'Monday Couple' reminisces about their past on 'Running Man'

As one of the longest-running variety couples on television, the 'Monday Couple' of Gary and Song Ji Hyo have enjoyed continuing popularity on 'Running Man'. During a chance encounter on the latest episode, the couple flashed back to their initial moments.

Gary had been designated to seek out the opposing team during the final nametag-ripping mission. Coming upon Song Ji Hyo hiding in a corner, he found himself trapped between a rock and a hard place - a decision not made easier by her imploring, puppy-like gaze.

Seeing her trapped, Gary reminisced back to the moment when the 'Monday Couple' began under very similar circumstances three years ago. However, their romantic moment was broken up when Koo Ja Cheol burst in through the door to save the 'Ace', and it was revealed that Song Ji Hyo was only stalling for time until help could arrive, leaving a distraught Gary to be outed once again. "It's always like this, for three and a half years," he complained as he was dragged away.

Eunhyuk Responds to Criticism of Zhou Mi and Henry

Eunhyuk Responds to Criticism of Zhou Mi and Henry

Recently a petition has been circulating online asking SM Entertainment to limit the activities of Super Junior M members Zhou Mi and Henry in official Super Junior events.  As a result, Eunhyuk took to the stage in Singapore to address the petition and respond to the criticism about Henry and Zhou Mi.

The petition comes from a group of fans known as only13ers, referring to the fact that Super Junior was once 13 members. The petition makes outrageous demands to SM Entertainment, asking them to limit the activities of “guest members” (as they like to call Zhou Mi and Henry).

Some of the crazy requests? That they not be allowed to make opening or closing remarks at concerts,  that they not use the official Super Junior fan color of sapphire blue, and that no information or promotional activity concerning Zhou Mi or Henry be posted on any of the official Super Junior accounts such as facebook, youtube, etc.

While the group of fans known as only13ers have been around for a while, the petition has picked up a lot of attention. Therefore, Eunhyuk took to the stage in Singapore to ask the criticism to stop and implored fans to be supportive of Henry and Zhou Mi as well. He went on to explain that though they weren’t official Super Junior members, they still held a close friendship with them like family and they wanted to include them onstage.

According to one translation of his comments, Eunhyuk stated, “I came out here again because I have something to say.” He explained, “I hope you all won`t misunderstand. We just… those two… we truly support them… I hope you support them as Super Junior M members. Singapore ELF, sorry to talk about this here.”

Judging from some of the comments online, Eunhyuk’s request to support Zhou Mi and Henry will continue to go largely ignored by the only13ers. On the other hand, true E.L.F.s continue to support all the Super Junior members and their sub-units as well.

SHINee Jonghyun Tweets About His 'Crush' On Girl's Day Yura

SHINee Jonghyun Tweets About His 'Crush' On Girl's Day Yura

Jonghyun clears things up about his fan-boy behavior

July 7, 2013 2:53 AM EDT | 0EMAILPRINT

SHINee Jonghyun
SHINee fans received disappointing news earlier in the week when many media outlets reported that Jonghyun has been harboring a major crush on Girl's Day member Yura.

When the girl group appeared on the July 3 episode of Shindong's ShimShimTapa on MBC FM to perform their new single "Female President," there were a rush of messages left by fans on the radio show's forum.

Much to everyone's surprise, one comment was made by none other than SHINee's Jonghyun.
Super Junior member Shindong, host of the popular radio program, read the message on air which said Jonghyun was listening to the show in his parked car, unable to tear himself away.
He also wrote that he especially liked Yura's live singing, to which she thanked him and was touchd by his kind words.
It was not long before news spread (complete with a few exaggerations) and Jonghyun was labeled as a Yura fan-boy.
The following day the SHINee singer got on Twitter to clarify his comments.
He tweeted, "I never thought I would write something like this on SNS... I was just saying that in support... and I meant that ShimShimTapa was so fun as always that I was parked in my car... I didn't send any text messages to the show, but was messaging with the PD. Because it was a live broadcast, a lot of things were left out and caused a misunderstanding!"
To prove that he does not have a fan bias, Jonghyun also tweeted a supportive message for his other music industry peers. "Girl's Day fighting! Dal Shabet fighting! Nine Muses fighting! Crayon Pop fighting! All the Korean girl groups fighting!"
He even added, "Boy groups fighting too! I'll get in trouble again if I leave them out. Haha."

KPOP DISCUSSION: Is Baby I’m Sorry by Rookie Group MYNAME Too Violent For Kpop?

MYNAME
KPOP DISCUSSION: Is Baby I'm Sorry by Rookie Group MYNAME Too Violent For Kpop? myname

First off, let me introduce you to MYNAME.
MYNAME is a 5 member boy band put together and trained by former Fly to the Sky member, Hwanhee. The members trained under his company, H2, for two years, then eventually debuted between September and October of 2011. After such time, albums, and singles later, MYNAME comes out with a music video entitled “Baby, I’m sorry”, a movie-like high-budgeted video that features the members as long time friends who got involved in various gangs which soon lead to the brutal deaths of each member.
The music video was produced by Zany Bros who have also worked with B.A.P in previous videos. The editing of the video has allowed for 7 minutes of entertainment as well as a feature of both Chu Sung Hoon and Yoo Oh Sung, professional actors.
In the music video, we watch as all five members dwindle down into the crypts of the underworld, and it’s during the first death that things get really serious really fast.
In my opinion, the editing of this video seemed very frazzled and choppy, nothing about the portrayal was smooth or effortless. There were a lot of sequences that just seemed very forced, and it just looked like the entire concept was trying too hard. One thing that does set this video apart from the rest– which if you aren’t aware, in any industry is a must– is the blood and the gore. Was it a fearless move? Sure. But did it pay off? I can’t say that it did.
The more I watch it, the more video comes off disjointed. And the blood and gore is for nothing but shock value. Although, if they wanted to grab attention, they did that with flying colors. But was it too violent?
Well for a gore fanatic such as myself, this is nothing. This is like a walk around Disneyland compared to the stuff I’m into. But for a regular music video and for the time that it was allotted, I just think that this is another trend that music videos are dipping their toes in. Is it appropriate for all audiences? Obviously not. I wouldn’t want to condone a proper smack down all for the sake of beer, but it wasn’t too violent. It could have been worse, they held back and that’s good. But I guess what gives this an advantage over “Mama Beat” by LC9 is the fact that there was some legitimate back story there. They weren’t killing or fighting just for the sake of blood.

What do you guys think?
