YG Entertainment is Unstoppable: Storm to Hit in Second Half of 2013

YG Entertainment is Unstoppable: Storm to Hit in Second Half of 2013
YG Entertainment appears to be on the move this year.
For the summer, Kang Seung Yoon began the race with her debut song "It's Raining" last month. The song swept the charts as soon as it was released. One month later, she sings her title song "Wild and Young". With full support from Yang Hyun Suk of YG Entertainment, Kang Seung Yoon kicked off on the right foot as a newly debuted singer. Yang Hyun Suk focused on working on Kang Seung Yoon's music video after working on Psy's "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman" music videos.
2NE1 is up next. CL already made her solo debut earlier this summer and on August 7, all the members of 2NE1 will stand together on stage. 2NE1 will release their second title song "Do You Love Me" via YouTube on August 7. It is predicted to be another global hit.

This is not the end for YG. The world stars of the Big Bang members will make their solo comebacks as well. First up will be Seungri. After debuting as a solo artist in 2011, Seungri is making his comeback as a solo artist. The second mini-album consists of 6 songs including the title song "I Have Something To Say."
G-Dragon will follow and then Taeyang right after. It has been reported that Yang Hyun Suk is spending days and nights in the studio with Seungri, G-Dragon and Taeyang to prepare for their comebacks.
It doesn't end there. Global star Psy appears as though he is preparing to release another song. YG entertainment is remaining silent regarding the topic which most likely means "YES."
If Psy will also make his comeback this year, the lineup of YG artists is incredible. Kang Seung Yoon, 2NE1, Seungri, Psy, G-Dragon, Taeyang... the lineup is intimidating beyond belief. It is to the point where YG Family members may have to compete against one another. Other entertainment agencies seem to be on their toes as YG artists' comeback dates approach.

Clara tears up talking about her sexy concept at the 'Reckless Family 3' press conference

Clara spilled tears talking about her sexy image.

On July 30, the MBC Every1 sitcom 'Reckless Family Season 3' held a press conference at the Seoul Yeouido CGV. Clara recently had an argument over her Twitter with writer Gong Ji Young. Clara has been receiving a lot of attention by the media lately and the writer had pointed out that female celebrities fight for attention through wearing revealing clothes, and she had said, "For me, attention is the same as a company worker's wage. When people no longer pay me attention, it means I've retired."

The argument was mentioned at the press conference, and she replied, "I did nothing for 8 years. I had a lot of things to think about during the time. When I saw her tweet, I wanted to tell her what I felt. When I had the break, I felt like I'd been fired." She started crying as she said, "To me, the attention and love I got... I felt as good as if I was getting paid."

She continued, "People ask me, you already showed off your sexy side, so what are you going to do later on? That's why I chose 'Reckless Family 3'. I have a bright, happy side, too, but I was scared of being just seen as sexy. I've been doing a lot of thinking. I'm going to be like a younger sister. I'm sorry that I'm crying right now."

Kim Hyun Joong Comes to Roy Kim’s Defense? “I Wonder if I Should Sue Crayon Pop”

Kim Hyun Joong Comes to Roy Kim’s Defense? “I Wonder if I Should Sue Crayon Pop”

One of the biggest challenges of being a pop star, is possibly having your songs, choreography and concepts accused of plagiarism. Basically calling you a talentless, leeching artist who has not much to offer in terms of substance and creativity. Not only does it hurt the company who has slaved over the production of the artist’s album, music video, etc. – but more importantly the artist’s reputation is damaged and it takes them a while to recover from such a scandal.
Witty solo artist and actor Kim Hyun Joong, who made a light-hearted remark about plagiarism in an interview, seemed to be commenting on this overall rather alarming trend of singers, songwriters and companies falling prey to accusations of plagiarism.
There are many arguments that could be weighed against or for songs sounding so similar, for example – that the well of inspiration to draw from has now become rather shallow, with many addictive, chart-topping K-Pop songs written by a handful of famous songwriters, or that music continues to be inspired by the past.
Roy Kim is the latest singer to be caught in a whirlwind of plagiarism accusations. As the reports go, Roy Kim may be leaving the music scene anyway for the United States to start school at the Georgetown McDonough School of Business.

What not to wear: K-pop Fashion Faux Pas

It's a rampant disease nestled deep beneath the surface of K-pop's glossy exterior. And when it strikes, both artists and fans alike find themselves at the receiving end of the heavy blow. That's right, guys - once in a blue moon, our favorite artists fall victim to one of the worst, most frightening vices out there - fashion terrorism or faux pas.

While perusing the length of this post, keep in mind that:
1. Fashion faux pas isn't for the fainthearted
2. These K-pop artists don't deliberately choose to commit such crimes.

Granted, fashion faux pas is a distinctly human mistake, so nobody's at fault. The perpetrators might find themselves at the butt of a couple jokes and jabs for some time (or forever), but hey, it's all in good fun.

Let's take a look back to some infamous fashion impairments that we can never un-see. Some of these images are graphic in content, so view at your own discretion, guys.

The fruity colors of Big Bang's outfit concept works for the most part. Yes, it's a bit taxing for the eyes to take it all in without bleeding, but overall, it's fun. Besides, there's hardly anything Big Bang can't really pull off. But let's take a moment of silence for Taeyang. If he were to piggyback me, I would control our movement direction by pulling either his right braid or left braid with the appropriate amount of pressure.

Oh, G-Dragon. What happened to the other 75% of your skorts pants?

Why Hello There. The detachable velcro skirt was an interesting idea that took a literal approach to Dal Shabet's "Be Ambitious (Look at my Legs)". Dat camel toe, doe.

B.A.P usually lights up any stage in flames with their presence and Bank Yong Guk's manly voice. On this particular stage, though, the flames were nowhere to be seen, for they were extinguished by the saltwater of our anguished tears.

Let's be honest - all they need are canes and top hats with feathers sticking out of the side to join the ranks as honorary pimps, a la this fine, swagtastic gentleman:

It's not that I have anything against the beautiful ladies of Orange Carmel. They have some unnervingly catchy songs that stick in your head whether you'd like it to or not, plus they're hella cute. But their stage outfits honestly make me want to go after their stylist and pluck out his or her eyebrows one by one, to really amp up the pain factor. Cuteness can very well be achieved without bows twice the size of an infant's body or poofy dresses my mom used to make me wear for ballet recitals when I was five. I can almost hear the plastic rustling of those dresses.

It's no question that Taeman Taemin has been aging well. We first saw him when he debuted as a sixteen-year-old back in 2008 as the youngest member of SHINee. He was a gangly kid with coconut-styled hair and a killer dance set that perked our interest in this fresh newcomer. Five years later, he stands before us a married man (on WGM, at least) and a jack of all trades in all things entertainment.

But the shirt. ....Well, half the shirt.

There are so many normal shirts out there for him to wear; I can vouch for it. Not to put anyone down, but everything that could've possibly gone wrong in one article of clothing can be found in this shirt. Did they run out of fabric? Or were they under the impression that this shirt would be the chick magnet of all chick magnets?

You know something's going to go down when you pair outlandish American fashion designer Jeremy Scott and K-pop's resident screw-homogeneity badasses 2NE1 get together. This much is to be expected, right? I can deal with Minzy's, CL's, and Park Bom's outfits. Why? Because I wear such outfits when I'm headed out the door to run errands around town. (Right).

But Dara's pants are so bold. She should think better than to linger around a carnival, especially near the game booth where they make you aim your water gun at the black dot or they make you shoot basketballs that never seem to go into the damn hoop (it's all the pressure; I choose not to take it personally) for stuffed prizes. Dara would be the all-or-nothing one woman stuffed prize.

He has the height, the face, the throaty voice, and the abdominal region that makes you feel faint. What he doesn't have, so they say, is a particular fashion sense. Ah, the original fashion terrorist - our very dear Taecyeon.

To be completely honest, I really don't think his outfits are that bad. I actually quite like 'em. I think Taecyeon's reached a point in his career where his fashion faux-paus have become so synonymous to his entity, and so it's just weird seeing him in well-coordinated clothes. His clueless fashion sense is endearing and standoffish in all the right ways. A real keeper, if you ask me - unfortunate clothes and all. But I say who needs em, he looks better without clothes anyways.

These girls deserve a trophy. Any trophy - just please, someone give them something that shows how thankful we are that they keep things interesting. Try as I may, I can't seem to stop watching the ladies of Crayon Pop. Their eccentricity and level of bizarreness are comparable to those of my own - and I swear that's saying a lot with regards to where they stand.

I've yet to see them wear miniskirts (without leggings underneath) or clothes that distantly suggest they're part of the K-pop industry to begin with. And I love them for that. On this stage, they opted for animal print tracksuits with white hoods that make them look like dancing egg whites. But the thing that most blows my mind is how good they look in those outfits.

SM Entertainment Execs Deny They Tried To Derail JYJ's Career: Label Considering A 'Legal Response' To FTC Sanction

Executives from SM Entertainment responded to a sanction issued on Wednesday by the Korean Fair Trade Commission (FTC), ordering the record label to stop attempting to sabotage the band JYJ's career.
In a short statement to the publication Newsen, a SM Entertainment spokesperson denied the allegations and said the label is weighing their legal options.
"Even though we never interfered with their activities, we're disappointed that there was a sanction," the SM Entertainment spokesperson said.

"We're looking for a legal response to the sanction."
At Wednesday's press conference, a representative from the FTC laid out the timeline of how SM Entertainment allegedly started a campaign, with some help from the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry (KFPCAI), against JYJ after the three bandmates left boy band TVXQ in 2009, over a contract dispute.
TVXQ is an SM Entertainment act.
"Despite JYJ's high album sales, their activities as a group were restricted in Korea, and they had to promote through areas where SM's influence was less [pervasive] like dramas, musicals, and advertisements," the FTC rep said.
SM Entertainment executives allegedly blacklisted the group from television performances and even asked Warner Music Korea to stop distributing the first JYJ album "The Beginning."
According to the FTC, the KFPCAI assisted in urging Warner to drop the JYJ album and reportedly issued a formal request to three major broadcast stations, six music and cable stations, five online music sites and 11 album retailers to not sell or promote JYJ's album.
"SM, one of the Big Three [South Korean entertainment] agencies, and KFPCAI, which is composed of various organizations involved in the entertainment industry, applied incredible pressure on companies and as a result, JYJ experienced cancellations of music and variety programs, a change in music ranking, and cancellations of documentaries and theater screenings," the FTC representative said.
The three members of JYJ, Kim Jae Joong, Park Yu Chun and Kim Jun Su issued a statement through their record label C-JeS on Wednesday, reacting to the news.
"We thank the FTC for their decision. We have been fighting arduously since 2009, and it felt like we were walking in a desert with no end in sight." the statement read.
"But we felt that things have been changing for the better, and we have gained a lot of strength from it. With this order from FTC, we hope that we can perform on fair stages and go about our activities in a better environment. We also hope that this helps to open the doors for our juniors."

2NE1 'Falling In Love' Song Of The Summer? BESTie And Stellar Beg To Differ

Earlier this week, MTV Iggy declared "Falling In Love" by 2NE1 the 'song of the summer.'
Maybe that is true - but there are a lot of other girl groups out there with their own spin on summer tunes.
2NE1 have a pretty solid career already under their belts - they have had chart-topping songs as a group and considerable success as individuals as well.

But is the latest release from the four-member group really the song of the summer?
The reggae beats help to remind us of beaches and hot weather, but "Falling In Love" falls short of the group's best work.
The trend over the past couple months has been to overly sexualize female K-Pop idols, and in turn raise a lot of eyebrows and concerns. 2NE1 should be applauded for not stooping to such desperate measures to gain attention.

"Falling In Love" is a sweet, playful song that shows off the members' vocal abilities rather than their bodies. However, it is hard not to think of the tune as somewhat disjointed. It seems to be lacking the sort of cohesion and tight delivery typical of a 2NE1 track.
That being said, two other female idol groups have made their way into the Korean music industry lately, although their summer songs have gone relatively unnoticed.
New girl group BESTie debuted on July 12 with the song "Pitapat" and it could easily be a contender for song of the summer.
It is a cute track about how the heart reacts to love and comes bonus with butt-shaking choreography and a colorful music video.
"Pitapat" was composed by Super Changddai, who has written several other hit songs for various idols, and was produced by the men responsible for Girls' Generation's "I Got a Boy," Will Simms and Tom Havelock.
It is fun, upbeat, and has a catchy melody - perfect for summer listening.

But not so fast, Stellar wants to throw themselves into the mix too.
The four members made a summer comeback on July 10 with the song "Study," another cute song to listen to on those hot summer days.
The group may have debuted in 2011, but for the most part have gone under the K-Pop radar, despite having ties to veteran idols Shinhwa and popular boy band Teen Top.
"Study" shows the girls with all their naturally adorable charms in matching outfits singing and dancing to the bubbly melody - quite the opposite of pole dancing routines and panty fashion.

"Falling In Love," "Pitapat" and "Study" all have poppy beats, cutesy lyrics (with very little, if any depth) and the ability to get stuck in one's head.
If that is the criteria for becoming the "song of the summer," why are we so quick to give the title to 2NE1? Just because they are more famous and popular does not mean that other girl groups should be overlooked for their efforts.
What do you think is the 'song of the summer'?

More Wisdom From Lee Joon: MBLAQ Singer Talks About Hypocritical Standards Of What Is Sexy In K-Pop

Lee Joon may be young, but he sure knows all the right things to say.

July 25, 2013 12:06 AM EDT | 1EMAILPRINT

Lee Joon may be young, but he sure knows all the right things to say.
The 25-year-old MBLAQ member is often praised by the media and fans following his talk show appearances for his down-to-earth insight and wisdom.

On the July 24 episode of MBC's Radio Star, Lee Joon, Clara, and the other guests on the panel got to talking about K-Pop idols' revealing outfits.
Lee Joon was quick to point out the hypocrisy in the Korean media regarding male and female entertainers showing too much skin.
"I get sad because I think people are really hard on female celebrities," he said. "When male celebrities take their shirts off, people say, 'Oh, they're so cool,' but when female celebrities do it, people say, 'She looks so cheap.'"
"He's right," responded Clara. "People say, 'She's just trying to get attention.'"
Lee Joon also added, "To be honest, I have taken my shirt off to get attention, too. I admit that I have done that. But I think that to women is just rude."
The conversation raised, once again, the ongoing issue of the summer comeback season of whether female idols are going too far with the sexy imagery.
Many media outlets and netizens have labeled the 'almost bare' outfits and suggestive dance routines as noise marketing, a way for the groups to one-up each other in the increasingly competitive market.
While the female celebrities are chastised for being "slutty" or "cheap," shirtless male idols are celebrated and applauded for showing off their bodies and exuding sex appeal.
Just as it is hard nowadays to find a girl group music video that does not show legs, midriff, or cleavage, boy bands too, cannot seem to release a new song without someone's abs being the center of attention.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe unintentionally, but Lee Joon seems to have brought up a much bigger cultural issue, and one that is certainly not exclusive to Korea, about gender stereotypes and inequalities in general.
We just wonder what other words of wisdom Lee Joon will have for us on his next talk show appearance.

Best Uses of English in K-pop Songs

I get a kick out of K-pop songs that have Engrish verses in it. Partly because it's insanely adorable, but mostly because they're hilarious to hear. It's like if I wrote a a song in English but decided to add Korean into it. Basically, the results would be so comical that the entire nation of Korea would most likely laugh at me until I cry. Here are some of the best uses of Engrish in K-pop songs!
To start our list off, we've got BEAST's "Beautiful." The song is decent but gets really good when rapper Junhyung pops in to give us a little rap where the English portion of it goes like this: "Make a love baby. Just make a love. Feeling in my heart, so nice." I'm pretty sure he meant to say, "Let's make love baby, just make love. This feeling in my heart is so nice." Either way it's cute and embarrassingly endearing at the same time.

I Love K-pop: Pathway to Alternative Notes

I Love K-pop: Pathway to Alternative Notes

I Love K-pop: Pathway to Alternative Notes
I Love K-pop: Pathway to Alternative Notes
Continuing with our ‘I Love K-pop‘ series, what I’m bringing to the table has to do with all that other music Korea has to offer and how that relates to K-pop and enjoyment of the genre. Over the years that K-pop has been around, the definition has grown a bit to encompass more than just the idol groups, usually lax enough to cover some solo artists but not so many bands or musicians. K-pop is definitely still geared towards the bubbly, manufactured sounds touted by young persons on stage, but as awareness of the genre and interest increases — through whatever medium — awareness of other aspects of music on Korean stages similarly increases.
Taking a personal interest in the personalities of idol group members, paying attention to interviews, or even following news sites helps to foster the understanding that Korean music isn’t just about the glitz and dolled up images that the young groups bring. No, there’s a foundation and build-up of music behind all of that, and it’s promising to eventually see what else there is offered. We try to bring more of that exposure here with some of the music we review or our K-pop Indie Gem segment, but the largest vehicles for this widening of perspective are either shows — music shows, variety shows involving music — or simply idol groups involving themselves with some more experienced and just non-idol musicians.
The weekly music shows that we regularly recap have a heavy idol lineup, but that doesn’t stop it from having those breaks when musicians like Dynamic Duo or Geeks drop in for a performance, or if a legend like Cho Yong-pil makes a comeback. For fans that are willing to sit through the show or happen to pass by the video when searching for their favorite idol groups, that’s a current introduction to someone that may be major in the Korean music scene. A good example of this is when some of the shows allow OST performances; not only are they frequently sung by a very talented vocalist, they’re good introductions to other voices like Navi or Lyn that are more popular than they’re given credit for.
I Love K-pop: Pathway to Alternative Notes Furthermore, television shows that highly encourage discovery of non-idols like 1000 Song Challenge and Immortal Song 2 promote different styles of music through the variety of guests that appear and with the songs that get chosen. Since the songs sung are selected at random, there’s a high probability that whatever song the members are going to sing is something that you haven’t heard before. It’s probably through means like this that a lot of fans are aware of songs like Park Hyun-bin‘s trot hit “Shabang Shabang” or perhaps have an inkling who a number of other previous groups or older vocalists are.
Immortal Song 2 is a personal favorite because it’s developed into a show that combines the talents of idols with mature singers and performers, all while covering classics from Boowhal to songs from Kim Wan-sun or DJ DOC. As a show, it forces idols to step it up to give respect to the song they’ve chosen and essentially not embarrass themselves in front of the originals. From a discovery perspective, it brings to the forefront groups like No Brain or Cherry Filter along with vocalists like Sonya or Boowhal’s current vocalist, Jung Dong-ha, as they all bring their own interpretations to the table. Regardless of the reason you check out the performances, there likely will be someone to listen to, especially as the performers often change. It provides a depth to the immediately available music that contrasts sharply with some of the hits we see today.
And perhaps that’s why looking further into what Korean music has to offer can be so attractive. K-pop is good fun even though I sometimes wonder why I’m jamming to a song with lyrics like “I’ll take you in one mouthful like cheese.” But there’s this contrast between the dance/electronic and sometimes overworked songs that K-pop can put out to sell and the idea of a musician making music that they like for the sake of doing music their way. Each has their own objectives with music, and I’ll be the first to admit that I can’t get enough aspects of K-pop: the performances, the variety shows, and the idea of a group working to bring a total package to the stage. But there are times when it’s equally good to sit back and listen to genres that don’t so easily fall under the title of ‘popular music,’ and some of those times are great for alternative notes.
I Love K-pop: Pathway to Alternative Notes Probably more than ever, we’re seeing more interactions between idols and more invested musicians, through collaborations for singles or at concerts, working together to make music, or making some noise while exploring new genres. We’re seeing things like B.A.P‘s rock collaboration with band Frozen Flower for their Seoul Live on Earth concerts, SHINee with Beatburger for UMF Korea 2013, Dynamic Duo teaming up with Sistar‘s Hyorin, or Amoeba Culture getting behind Infinite H‘s debut album. There’s SM Entertainment working with 10 Corso Como for their ‘Seoul Melody’ project, the dual nature of Jay Park‘s work as something for K-hip-hop yet still idol material, and f(x) making it to SXSW alongside other mainstays in the alternative rock scene like Galaxy Express or 3rd Line Butterfly. There’s Infinite‘s Sung-gyu and his continuous appreciation of Nell shown through his solo mini-album, tracks on G-Dragon‘s last album involving singers from groups like Jaurim, Jungle Entertainment dabbling in idoldom with M.I.B.,and the Dokkun Project that puts together people like Juniel and Phantom‘s Hanhae for their latest release. All these works, for one, show the different ways K-pop is open to different interpretations. But some of them, ones directly involved with idols, show possibilities when the idols are given different material, taken away from some stricter limitations, often to the delight of listeners.
These slowly developing connections lend Korean artists a helping hand at getting the attention from the other’s fanbase. It’s an opportunity to look at more than idol groups for idol fans and a chance to give idol groups a look for the other party’s audience. For a K-pop fan, it’s not easy to suddenly run into music from someone like Outsider or Donawhale or hear of Cherry Filter or Daybreak. It takes quite a bit of looking to find a decent number of songs. While K-hip-hop has been making leaps and bounds towards mainstream consciousness, the Korean indie scene is one that still hasn’t been tapped, largely due to a lack of promotions in areas most easily accessed by K-pop fans (i.e. music and variety shows). And there’s no real reason for them to go on there when the chance of playing live and to perform the type of eager audiences that idols draw is slim.
I Love K-pop: Pathway to Alternative Notes
The division becomes especially prominent when noticing the lack of translations of lyrics or performances under English titles on video sharing sites. The music is all there, and more accessible than you might think due to the less powerful arms of the entertainment companies that house indie groups, but it takes a nudge in that direction that isn’t easy to motivate. And similarly, a lot of the less mainstream options don’t have that major personality factor added onto the music. While K-pop is focused on music but requires supplemental aspects to continue the draw, these other options rely firmly on their music and entertaining through sound, not on their dazzling personalities. It’s a different way to sell that has less of a chance of being wildly popular because it’s generally less about selling the group and more about selling the music.
While the exposure is clearly guaranteed to add fans to all people contingent to K-pop idols, it’s just that exposure is something all groups could always use. It doesn’t guarantee anything about all non-idols becoming more mainstream in the eyes of international fans; if we’re being real, like Patricia mentioned in her piece, we’re all here not just for the music, and the access to non-idols just isn’t as open. But K-pop has left the door ajar with regard to opening up the more major music of Korea, and as the two continue to meet, they may create wider openings to bring out more of what there is to offer.

B.A.P make an appearance in One Direction's 'Best Song Ever' MV?

B.A.P had a surprise 'appearance' in One Direction's newest music video for "Best Song Ever"!

The boys didn't actually appear in the video, but at one point in the MV when One Direction was being introduced new concepts, the members faces were photoshopped onto B.A.P's promotional photo for their debut song "Warrior".

Zelo was (sadly) edited out from the far right and their red suits were edited to a bright fuchsia suit instead, but the pose was identical and there was no mistake it was originally the boys.

Check them out around the 2:24 mark below.

Road To K-pop Stardom: Can Non-Koreans Be Successful in K-pop Auditions? K-pop Star 2 Contestant Nicole Curry Shares Insight [

K-pop Star 2, K-pop Star, Nicole Curry

Road To K-pop Stardom: Can Non-Koreans Be Successful in K-pop Auditions? K-pop Star 2 Contestant Nicole Curry Shares Insight [INTERVIEW] With the recent announcement for the upcoming season 3 of K-Pop Star, it’s audition time again in the United States. The audition dates and announcements went out about a month ago for aspiring Kpop idols in the United States. But what are the shots or chances of a non-Korean American making it unto the show? Nicole Curry has something to say about that.
Nicole was a contestant on the SBS K-Pop Star season 2 and she will be the first to tell you she was as surprised as the next person when she was selected and kept advancing in the show. Nicole comes from the American mid-west and has a heritage that’s as far from Korean as you get, with an African-American father and European-American mother.
Surprisingly, the K-pop Star 3 auditions will be bypassing New York City, but instead will head towards Nicole’s neck-of-the woods in Chicago, which is America’s number one mid-western city. Is it possible that with her success, the organizers of K-Pop Star are looking for more hidden treasure, and that the New York’s talent pool has been exhausted?
Well, those in the New York talent pool can take heart, because there’s a new K-Pop related reality talent show audition coming to the New York/New Jersey area. It’s called Dream Stage (www.mydreamstage.com). The auditions begin on July 20, 2013 and will be broadcast on the Korean Broadcasting Network (myKBN.com). The executive producer, Jay Lee who worked with 2NE1, LeeSSang and B.A.P. during their American tour, says the show is “for musicians dreaming about the big stage” and his wish is that “local armature musicians will challenge themselves” and aspire to playing to a global audience.
As Nicole’s relative success, which led to a brief-stint at YG, shows it is possible for non-Korean Americans to make significant headway in Kpop auditions. In the final analysis, aspiring contestants can learn from her by having a bright personality – genuinely smile and laugh a lot, showcase your skills – some originality won’t hurt, and be open to new things – as Nicole was with acupuncture as suggested to her by Epik High’s Tablo. Most importantly though, is have fun.

Roy Kim, "'Bom Bom Bom' Was a Lightly Written Song... Sorry For the Inconvenience"

Singer Roy Kim apologized for the rumors that had been surrounding him recently.
Roy Kim recently held a interview with StarNews for the promotion of his 1st album "Love Love Love."
About his song "Bom Bom Bom" that had been surrounded by rumors of plagiarism, Roy Kim said, "It was a song that was lightly written. I just heard the chords and comfortably wrote it within an hour."

"Bom Bom Bom," which was released before the release of his official album in April, is a country acoustic guitar song that rose to rank 1 and gained much love from fans.
Roy Kim said, "At first, I was worried that it would not meet many people's expectations. But I was happy that it went much better than I had expected. I think the mainstream was a bit hungry for the comfortable melody line as well. I was even able to hold my own concert through that song too."
But this song had been accused of plagiarism with the extremely-similar melody line with many other songs previously written. Even though Roy Kim's side denied that they had plagiarized, Roy Kim's attitude became an issue.
Roy Kim's agency said, "Sorry for the worries and inconvenience this brought you. We will not bring you any more disappointments through good music."

K-pop Idols Dozing Off: Strangest Sleeping Stories

The other day my girlfriend fell asleep on my couch after a night of watching an unhealthy amount of Korean variety shows, music videos, and dramas. While she slumbered, I stayed awake mindlessly watching an endless amount of Inkigayo performances. Just as I shut my computer off, my girlfriend started speaking in Korean and singing K-pop songs and that's when it hit me-I need to write a post on K-pop idols and their sleeping habits. So a big thanks to my friend who didn't know her creepy Korean sleep performances inspired this post.
K-pop idols don't sleep. Their schedules allow maybe a few hours of sleep, but unlike you and me who get at least 6 hours of deep sleep, these idols need to be on their music game 24/7 which means sleep is a luxury. If I was working as hard as these idols, I would probably be sleep-walking, sleep-talking, sleep-singing, sleep-dancing, during the hours where I should be still and fast asleep. Let's take a look at the strangest K-pop idol sleeping habit stories!

MBLAQ's Lee Joon is a sleeping traveler. He's known to have the ability to sleep anywhere, anytime, anyplace. He's slept everywhere from closets, the bathtub, and even fell asleep on the stage once! Lee Joon, you can fall asleep in my bathroom any time you want!
SHINee's Minho works as hard as any other K-pop idol in the industry. He's young, he's overworked, and he needs his sleep. The most I've ever slept was 17 hours straight after a long trip but Minho beats me by a million miles. The cutie pie member revealed on a variety show that he once slept for 48 whopping hours straight. After a long day of soccer and hanging out with his cronies, he passed out at his friend's house and didn't wake up for 48 hours! The singer remembered waking up extremely famished and disoriented. When he went downstairs, his brother asked him where he was for the last 2 days. Watch the clip here:
B2ST's Junhyung is a hardworker who never fails to perfect his craft. The group's leader Doojoon, revealed in a fan meeting that one of his fears is falling asleep next to Junghyun. Doojoon claims that he often raps while he's asleep. Hilarious!
Miss A's Suzy is a consummate actress. Even if she's fast asleep, she still works on her craft as an actor. Suzy revealed on an episode of MBC's "Radio Star" that she re-enacts all her dreams while she's still asleep. Wouldn't all you boys love being there if she was rehearsing her kissing scene in her dream?
