Son Ho Young in a More Stable Condition Since Suicide Attempt

Son Ho Young in a More Stable Condition Since Suicide Attempt
It was reported that on July 1, a representative from Son Ho Young’s agency updated the media with Son Ho Young’s current condition. “After he was discharged on June 1, Son Ho Young stayed confined in his own home. But he has recently been hiking mountains in Seoul and other cities with his dad to help him get back on his feet.”
His side stated, “Many people who are tired usually decide to go on hikes and climb mountains because it’s a good way to let go of small, unnecessary thoughts, while strengthening the mind and body. It’s also a great opportunity to reflect on the past.”
The representative continued, “Son Ho Young said that he is able to reflect as he is on his hike. Even though he is finding stability, it will take some time for him to come back. His family is deeply thankful for everyone’s concern, but it will take a lot of before he is able to start promoting again.”
On May 23, Son Ho Young attempted suicide using the same method as his deceased girlfriend and was quickly admitted into a hospital.

U-Kiss Takes Mexico By Storm

U-Kiss Takes Mexico By Storm
Last night wrapped up the extremely successful South and Latin American leg of the U-Kiss tour. The group performed in Columbia and Peru, but saved Mexico for their last stop… a country which has been waiting a long time for Kpop!

After arriving in Mexico, the group took the time to tour local pyramids and get a taste of the Mexican culture. The members posted plenty of pictures as they were out sight seeing and tweeted some of them to fans.

On Friday morning, the group held a press conference at the historic Camino Real Polanco Hotel in downtown Mexico City. Despite the language barrier, the members were very at ease and friendly with the many reporters and photographers who turned out for the event. Junsu of JYJ was the first Korean artist to perform in Mexico in 2012, making U-Kiss only the 2nd Kpop artist to ever give a concert in Mexico and very first idol group to do so.

When speaking to the press, the members looked fresh and energetic despite their exhausting schedule.  Reporters asked a variety of questions, such as what is their ideal woman and have they ever kissed a fan before. Though the members told that AJ had kissed a fan on the hand once, the others didn’t confess to anything else and instead said they consider all the Kiss Me’s to be their girlfriends. As far as their ideal type? Hoon and Kiseop both agreed they liked cute, petite girls and are sometimes in competition with each other because their ideal types are the same. On the other hand, Eli admitted he liked tall, voluptuous girls and Dongho said he likes girls with pretty hands. Leader Soohyun won the hearts of everyone present when he said he liked pretty Mexican girls.

On Friday night, the group gave an amazing performance to a sold out crowd. Because of general seating with most tickets, fans started forming a line at 6 a.m. in order to be close to the stage for the performance that night. Though the wait was exhausting, the spirit was one of excitement- fans spent the time talking about U-Kiss and Kpop, singing, dancing and making new friends. People had come from all over the country of Mexico, some even riding 13 or 14 hours in a bus to attend the event. One fan was even from Spain!

After the hugely successful concert, UKiss held a fan meeting the next night to a crowd of almost 1,000 people. Though the fans were a bit disappointed that the meeting only lasted an hour due to the fact that the band had to leave to catch their flight, everyone was in agreement that it was worth the time and money it took to attend. One fan said, “Every single moment was pure magic! Beautiful!”

The group sang 3 songs and also played some games with the crowd, such as musical chairs. Several lucky fans were pulled on stage to participate. The most exciting moment was when one young fan and Soohyun went for the same chair. He won, but in a fun spirit, he pulled her down and made her sit on his lap. When the crowd went wild screaming, he scooped her in his arms and stood up, carrying her like a groom carrying his bride. To the fan who was the final winner of the game, the members gave her a group hug and then danced around her as they were hugging her.

At the fan meeting, 50 lucky fans also won the chance to meet the members and get autographs. Another fun moment came when the members had a competition to see who could give the “cutest” confession of love. One by one, they all performed or got down on their knees to the crowd. Kiseop stole hearts when he knelt down and then made his heart “beat” by using his hand underneath his shirt.

When the weekend was finally over, many fans were crying, knowing the moment they had waited for was finally over and it would be a long time before they could see U-Kiss again. But no worries, Mexican Kiss Me’s… before leaving the stage, Soohyun promised that this wasn’t a goodbye but simply a “see you later!”

Check back soon on the U-Kiss fan club on Korea.com for more pictures and some funny moments from the press conference, concert and fan meeting.

Uhm Tae Woong and Kim Ok Bin Become the Romeo and Juliet of Goguryeo

Uhm Tae Woong and Kim Ok Bin Become the Romeo and Juliet of Goguryeo

Romance is in the air as Uhm Tae Woong and Kim Ok Bin meet for the first time in the KBS2 drama “The Blade and Petal” (official English title, otherwise known as “Sword and Flower”).
blade and flower full body
In the new Wednesday-Thursday miniseries, Yeon Choong and Moo Young(played by Uhm Tae Woong and Kim Ok Bin) are split between rival families as the son and daughter of Yeon Gaesomoon (played by Choi Min Su) and King Yeongnyu (played by Kim Young Chul), respectively. But in spite of the strife that divides the two families, the two main characters are fated to fall in love – much like Romeo and Juliet.
Their emotions can be seen from a glance. Uhm Tae Woong wears the clothes of a street merchant, while Kim Ok Bin wears the beautiful traditional gown of a princess. Uhm Tae Woong stands behind her as if to stand guard over the princess, while flower petals shower over the couple as if to celebrate their chance encounter and soon-to-be love. The two fall for each other from the very beginning, and their shared looks of love and sympathy grow stronger as a result of the strong chemistry between the two actors.

The relationship between the lovers extends even between the actors themselves. During an interview, Um Tae Woong bragged that “Miss Kim Ok Bin is light hearted and has a great personality. When I pull my pranks, she laughs with me and has fun. We haven’t even known each other for very long, but the fact that we can pal around like this is pretty amazing.”
Kim Ok Bin also contributed to the happy atmosphere of the film set as she admitted, “Sunbae specializes in brightening everyone’s mood with his little nano-gags. We’ve all gotten much closer because of it.”

With the sword that preserves honor, and the flower that expresses love, the tale of forsaken lovers in the midst of rivaling families will present through the melodramatic “Blade and Flower,” airing its first episode “A Thousand Count” on July 3.

Brainiest K-pop Idols

K-pop idols may have the dance and vocal skills to score high on the music charts, but behind the entertainment facade, there's a handful of artists who are also intelligent human beings. Here's a list of the brainiest idols in K-pop!
Let's start with our one and only K-pop Stanford graduating veteran idol, Tablo of Epik High. WIth an IQ of over 160, the "Umbrella" singer is one of the most well-known brainiacs in the Korean entertainment industry. Tablo once completed a complicated IQ test in a mere 11 seconds. The test says whoever finishes the problem in less than 20 seconds possess an IQ of around 170 which in laymen terms, means you're darn smart!
Brown Eyed Girls's Miryo is hot, powerful, and intelligent! The rapper won the title of "Most Knowledgeable" amongst other idol girl group members on KBS2TV's "Idol Brain Collision." Here are the three questions that won her the respected title:
“In the process of a tadpole becoming a frog, what is the first stage?
"In 1932, what was the name of the independence activist who threw a lunch bomb in Shanghai’s Hongkeowoo Park?
"Out of shoes, vest, and pants, which word is originally Korean?”
“Which of the following is a masterpiece of Michelangelo?”

TVXQ's Changmin may be a singer and idol superstar but the boy has got the brains to back it up too! His IQ is 150 which makes him one smart cookie. Pop in Seoul named Changmin as one of the top 5 brainiest stars in the K-pop industry.
SHINee's leader Onew opened up about his days in high school and stated that he studied quite hard and was the student with the second highest grades in the whole school. He might be "Dream Girl-ing" his ways into your hearts these days, but Onew was once just a regular old Joe who studied his tush off to make himself and his parents proud.
Super Junior's Kyuhyun won the Math Olympic's award in school and proved to be one intelligent fella! He's a math wizard and known for his ability to pick up foreign languages.  What would you say to him about that?  Do you have the right formula to his heart?

Are there any other idols you know could win a quiz bee?

Kpop Rookie BTOB Falls Victim To Stalker Fans

A week ago, many apologies have been passed toward the fans from rookie idol group BTOB and though there is much confusion as to what exactly has happened, there are big pictures things that have come into clarity
The issues that resulted in BTOB having to apologize to their fans had been something escalating in the background for a while. After much research, it has been found out that BTOB has a tendency to be a little too friendly with their fans. What I mean by that is that when they see fans who they can already recognize due to the frequency of their meetings, may this be in music shows or signings, the group have deemed it appropriate to keep the fans on a first name basis kind of closeness.
On the fan cafes for BTOB, the fans were instructed by the Cube Entertainment staff to be unruly in their discussions which is pretty reasonable considering the public space of the café and how it is for everyone involved in that fandom. There was also another request that gift be sent to the staff so that they could send those gifts to the idols. But these were only the tip of the iceberg since it was also discovered that there were certain patrons who ran the café a certain way or decided how music show attendances would go considering that they "knew the boys first hand now" or because they're close.
Through this kind of behavior, the fan café shut down. A fake Twitter account was also created under BTOB member, Changsub's name, which was used to harass fans and other members of the band. It was at this point that the staff as well as the group knew that measures had to be taken.
This is not something that has never been heard of before in the Kpop industry. Many stalker fans have been featured for being ruthless in their attempts to place their idols desires ahead of their own and it can be quite disturbing to witness. Although some of the blame is being put on BTOB as well since consensus was if they weren't so friendly to those certain fans, no level of authority would have been built.
What do you guys think? How close should idols be with their fans?

Jung Woo Sung takes a comic turn on 'Running Man'

If you were awed by Jung Woo Sung's intense performance in last week's 'Running Man', you would be surprised at his 180-degree turnaround on this week's lighter episode!

One of the highlights was the 'blob jumping' segment, a game which reportedly cost the 'Running Man' staff the highest budget to date. Jumping from a tower into a huge pillow, one lucky (or unlucky) person would be propelled into the air as other people would jump onto the other end of the 'blob'.

Despite charismatically waving at the other members on top of the jumping board, he managed to fall off the 'blob' into the water, not once, but twice, not even managing to score a small hop.

His antics continued as he demolished a watermelon, fought the 'Tiger' Kim Jong Kook in a wrestling match, and faced off against the other members in one of the shortest and most intense nametag-ripping games in 'Running Man' history!

Catch the full episode below!
