Can’t Idols Watch Movies with Their Friends without Dating Rumors?

'It's just a friend, not a celebrity!'
Summer is the season for dating rumors. When it comes down to it, stars just want to enjoy a movie at the theater with some popcorn and a cola, especially in this hot weather. The theater is the best place to hang out in the summer, even for celebrities. Besides appearing for VIP premieres, stars also like to attend the movies in casual clothing with other people.
However, the stars' recent movie outings have become a breeding ground for dating rumors. Lee Hyun Woo and IU went to the movie as friends but became the center of attention as a suspected couple, and Nine Muses Kyungri had a scandal with SHINee's Jonghyun. These stars went to the movie theaters and were photographed by fans. These photos then made their way to the online community and sparked dating rumors.

On August 9 a photo titled 'Lee Hyun Woo and IU's movie date' was uploaded onto the online community and various social networking sites. In the photo a man and a man thought to be Lee Hyun Woo and IU are wearing hats and waiting for the elevator.  Witnesses claimed that the two people pictured were in fact Lee Hyun Woo and IU, and said they looked very friendly with each other.
Although the comment started off with 'they looked friendly with each other,' not 'they are dating,' this photo soon became the reason for their dating rumor. Regarding this matter, both parties said, 'IU and Lee Hyun Woo became friends while working as MCs together on SBS 'Inkigayo.' Even after IU left they have been contacting each other and are still friends. They decided to watch a movie together after their schedules because the timing was right. Although they met while working, the two are platonic friends and not dating each other.'
The same could be said for Jonghyun and Kyungri's dating rumor. A photo showed up on an online community site claiming the two were spotted on a date watching a movie together. On August 11 Jonghyun tried to explain the situation on his Twitter, saying, 'People are talking about me on online community forums a lot. Just to tell you the facts, I went to go watch a movie with my friends, and they are not celebrities. I hope because of this my friends don't go through trouble or any other inconveniences.'
He continued, 'I only found out because my friend sent me the photo. I'm happy there are so many people who care for me. It's late, everyone should go to sleep now. I'm sorry for making you worry. Even though it's nothing that I have to apologize for, I'm sorry,' expressing his uncomfortable state of mind due to the sudden unwanted attention.
All of these stars have stated that they've watched movies with each other because they are friends and not because they're dating. Even in the photos they look like friends, and not lovers. If they really were dating, it's more likely that they would have disguised themselves so that no one would recognize them instead of going out in plain attire.
Even netizens are responding in a cool manner. They have said things like, 'Can't celebrities go to the movies, too?' and 'I feel bad for the idols that can't even go to the theaters when they want to.' They are showing support for these idols, believing that they truly are just close friends and not actually dating.
Even if in the future it turns out these celebrities were actually on a date, for now it's enough to believe the stars when they say they're just close friends. After all, don't stars deserve to spend the night out at the movies like any other normal person?
