The 2nd Annual K-Pop & K-Story Video Contest
An Online Festival for K-Culture Fans in the United States
The Korean Cultural Center Washington DC is proud to announce the 2nd Annual K-Pop & K-Story Video Contest, an online event held via Facebook to celebrate and grow Hallyu, the Korean Wave of popular culture.
This year’s contest invites Korean culture fans across America to compete in two categories: either to show off their vocal and dance skills is a stylish video, or to share their most amazing, touching, and compelling stories related to Hallyu.
The top submissions will receive special prizes from LG Electronics and autographed K-Pop artist albums. One lucky grand prize winner will receive a round-trip ticket to Korea and a chance to compete in the World K-Pop Contest!
Last year’s contest confirmed the amazing popularity of K-Pop music.About 250 groups submitted 270 video clips—an amazing response. Among the entries, 15 outstanding teams were selected based on their voice and dance performances. The Grand Prize winners, sisters Janaye and Symone Rodgers, traveled to Korea to represent the United States in the World K-Pop Contest, finishing 3rd in the grand finals.
Entries will be accepted throughout the month of June. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2013.
Entry Categories
There are two contest categories: K-Pop and K-Story. Participants can choose to enter one or both categories.
K-Pop Video: Freestyle theme; participants can express and share their K-Pop dance and singing skills in any form they like.
K-Story Video: Open topic; participants can create and share a video clip telling their personal story of they encountered Hallyu or what effects it has had (including K-Pop, K-Drama, K-Films, etc). Submissions can take the form of a video message to a Korean celebrity, sharing personal experiences, or a tribute to a role model.
