P Ramlee Tribute Awards Dinner held at the Palace of Culture June 7
After postponed to make way for the General Election (GE), 13th April, P Ramlee Tribute Awards will finally be held June 7 at the Theatre Sari, Istana Budaya.
The inaugural award will be transmitted live on two channels owned Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), TV1 and TVi, beginning at 9 pm.
A total of nine awards will be contested by 10 telemovie screened through a slot Tribute P Ramlee on TV1, since November last year to May 2013.
Ten telemovie nominated by P Ramlee tribute slot is Instant Wait Along direction independent, Soul Vibration (Michael Ang), Miang Bamboo Yam Birah (Bade Azmi), Where My Search Replace (Osman Ali) and Who's Cheating Who (Aziz M Osman) .
Also contested is the telemovie Jodoh We (Ismail Yaakob), Love Beads (Rashid Sibir), Pelamin In Cemetery (Murali Abdullah), Only Thee (Amie Maziah) and as long as Love Zikr (Erma Fatima).
All telemovie issue involved is of special projects Suhan Movies & Trading Sdn. Limited.
Nine categories
Meanwhile, a special panel of seven judges appointed to assess the quality of each set telemovie by category.
Contested category at these awards is Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Telemovie, Best Script and Best Videography.
A special award was also created for the organization of this first round of Special Appearance Award.
Winners will take home a cash prize of RM5, 000 and a trophy, while the winning fan category, ie those who managed to correctly guess the name of the winner and sending of entries will take home a cash prize of RM3, 000.

Deputy Director General of Broadcasting RTM, Ahmad Jamali Mohd Yunos, said slot P Ramlee tribute not just mere entertainment, but he was very satisfied with the road to self drama and remarkable performances.
Judging criteria, he said, is determined based on the creative element and the resemblance to the original work of P Ramlee.
However the RTM yet to decide whether the award will be an annual event.
"Because of this inaugural award, we still can not predict the outcome. But we believe, with the ability of young publisher is responsible for handling the awards later, it will be an exciting event.
"So far the RTM not sure whether to make this an annual event award or otherwise. We certainly will do further studies after organizing. If necessary continue, maybe we will change the concept to make the award more prestigious event in the future, "he said.
Classic Cinema themed ceremony will begin with a red carpet event conducted by the National FM presenter, Muaz, and actress and host, Sazzy Falak.
Awards event was hosted Suria FM presenter Linda Onn, and Terence Dass.
